Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba will tomorrow, 08 August 2014, visit the Free State province as part of government’s outreach programme which sees various leaders interact with communities at grassroots level.

The Department of Home Affairs started issuing unabridged birth certificates for newborn babies in March 2013 on the spot and at no cost.An unabridged birth certificate is more secure and reliable as it contains, apart from information of the child, details of both parents including their ID numbers.
Later in the day, Minister Gigaba will meet members of the Free State Stakeholder Forum.
Stakeholder Forums seek to involve communities on the governance processes within the Department of Home Affairs with a view to improving and accelerating quality service delivery. To date 264 Stakeholder Forums have been established to play a coordinating role.
