Christmas might have come and gone, but for a group of about 1 700 elderly people from Khayelitsha, in Cape Town, theirs continues this week.

Home Affairs Minister, Naledi Pandor will host the group to a scrumptious lunch at the O.R. Tambo Hall in Khayelitsha on Thursday, 16 January 2014. 

In December, each year, Minister Pandor, , hosts a group of elderly people to a lunch as part of her constituency work.  Last year’s had to be postponed due to the passing away of Tata Nelson Mandela.

Minister Pandor also uses the opportunity to solicit views from the elderly people on how to resolve some of the problems they are experiencing within the community.

The lunch is scheduled to start at 11h00 and finish at 14h00.

Apart from the lunch, the elderly people will be treated to some entertainment from various groups as well as receive sponsored gifts.  They will also receive letters, inviting them to apply  for their smart-id-cards.

Councillors and other community leaders are expected to attend the event.
