Nelspruit - Home Affairs Minister, Naledi Pandor will, tomorrow, 07 January 2014 at 07h30, host a group of about 30 mothers of babies born from the 01 January 2014 to a breakfast at the Rob Ferreira Hospital in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga Province.  Minister Pandor will use the opportunity to hand-over the children’s birth certificates, as well as encourage all mothers to register their children within 30 days after birth.
The event forms part of the Department of Home Affairs National Population Registration Campaign, whose strategic objectives are the following:

  • Promote the registration of birth within 30 days after birth;
  • Encourage citizens who have reached the age of 16 years and above to apply and get their IDs and
  • Eliminate the current process of Late Registration of Birth.
