Beitbridge - Minister of Home Affairs, Naledi Pandor is expected to pay a visit to the Beitbridge Border gate later today, Thursday 28 March 2013, as part of the Department's preparations for the forthcoming Easter holidays. During her visit to Beitbridge border gate, Minister Pandor is expected to announce departmental plans to deal with the expected upsurge in traveller movement between South Africa and neighbouring countries  associated with the Easter Weekend. In this regard, the department has among others deployed extra personnel while increasing working hours in a number of ports of entry to deal with the anticipated increased traveller volumes.
 
Complimenting the work of Minister Pandor in this context, will be the Director-General of Home Affairs. Mkuseli Apleni who will be visiting the Lebombo border gate today as well. Both Beibridge, Lebombo and Maserubridge border posts are among major national ports of entry which witness an increase in traveller volumes associated with Easter weekends. Accordingly, the visits to Beitbridge and Lebombo ports of entry come within the context of ensuring the smooth facilitation of movement of people, goods and services during the Easter Weekend while elevating service delivery levels to deal with high volumes of traveller movement during this period.
 
Minister Pandor takes this opportunity to extend her best wishes to all those who will be travelling through our ports of entry- land,sea and air ports- during the Easter weekend and joins in the national call for travellers to ensure they indeed "Arrive Alive"
