The Minister of Home Affairs, Malusi Gigaba, will on Sunday, 11 September 2016, undertake a tour of the Marabastad Refugee Reception Office to assess progress in the renovations underway as part of the Department's technological innovations and the Modernisation Programme.
The Marabastad Refugee Reception Office has been identified as one of the areas of concern due to continuous reports concerning fraud and corruption activities. During a visit to the centre in February 2016, President Jacob Zuma expressed confidence that concerns around the manner in which services are rendered -raised by the immigrant community- would be addressed by imminent Home Affairs interventions led by Minister Gigaba.
