The Minister of Home Affairs, Malusi Gigaba, will open the new Home Affairs office in Somerset West in the WesternCape. The new office forms part of the Moetapele Initiative which seeks to demonstrate a fully digitised, paperless Home Affairs environment, amongst others. Part of this includes piloting a payment system that will allow clients to pay for Home Affairs services with debit and credit cards.This system will be rolled out to all ID smart card offices by March 2016.
 
Moetapele aims to:
  • Develop frontline office expertise in each of the products we offer to our clients; 
  • Provide operational tools that enable the collective leadership to manage and administer business processes in support of service delivery;
  • Provide a professional environment for clients to feel confident with the services they are receiving; and
  • Educate citizens about the centrality of Home Affairs products to unlock the opportunities that exist in our modern age.
