The Minister of Home Affairs, Malusi Gigaba, is set to launch the Moetapele Leadership Initiative, which aims to ensure a consistently high quality of customer experience at Home Affairs offices through the establishment of model offices. The Edenvale Home Affairs office has been revamped to demonstrate a fully digitised, paperless environment. Part of this includes piloting a payment system that will allow clients to pay for Home Affairs services with debit and credit cards, which will be rolled out to all 140 ID smart card offices by March 2016.

To this end, Moetapele seeks to:

  • Develop frontline office expertise in each of the products we offer to our clients;
  • Provide operational tools that enable the collective leadership to manage and administer business processes in support of service delivery;
  • Provide a professional environment for clients to feel confident with the services they are receiving; and
  • Educate citizens about the centrality of Home Affairs products to unlock the opportunities that exist in our modern age.

Members of the media are invited as follows:

Date: Tuesday, 12 May 2015
