Home Affairs Minister, Malusi Gigaba, today, 04 November 2014, met with the Western Cape Provincial Legislature’s Standing Committee on Economic Opportunities, Tourism and Agriculture to engage them on the Immigration Regulations.

Held against the principle of co-operative governance, the meeting forms part of Minister Gigaba’s undertaking to actively engage all relevant stakeholders with a view to garner and welcome all constructive views that will further refine the immigration regulations.

The Committee, led by Chairperson, Ms BA Schafer, stated that it had prepared a report based on public hearings it had conducted on immigration regulations while the Department of Home Affairs has invited the committee to supply it with the report.

Minister Gigaba reiterated the view that the work of the Department of Home Affairs will continue to ensure a balance between national security imperatives and those of the economic development in South Africa.
