Home Affairs Deputy Minister Fatima Chohan will visit senior citizens at Nirvana Old Age Home in Lenasia where she will hand out new Smart ID cards to the elderly, on Saturday 2 August.

This is part of the drive by the Department of Home Affairs to roll-out the new Smart ID cards to citizens, starting with first-time applicants and the elderly who are sixty years old and above.

The Smart ID cards with their heightened security features including live capture are meant to promote the national goal of creating a safe and secure South Africa where all people are proud of and value their identity and citizenship.
