Minister Naledi Pandor to launch North West Stakeholder Forum and commemorate the Child Protection Week at Ratlou Local Municipality in North West Province - 01 June 2013 - 09h00 - 15h30
The Minister of Home Affairs, Naledi Pandor will on, Saturday, 01 June 2013, visit the Ratlou Local Municipality in North West, where she will officially launch the provincial Stakeholder's Forum. The launch also coincides with the commemoration of the Child Protection Week.
North West Premier, Ms Thandi Modise, Members of the Executive Council, the Mayor of Ngakamodiri Molema District Municipality as well as the Mayor of the Ratlou Municipality and councillors are expected to join the Minister.
President Jacob Zuma launched the National Population Registration Campaign in 2010. The campaigns strategic objectives are the following;
- Promote the registration of birth within 30 days after birth;
- Encourange citizens who have reached the age 16 years and above to apply and get their IDs and
- Eliminate the current process of Late Registration of Birth.
In ensuring that this campaign is alive and reaches every corner of South Africa, the Department of Home Affairs, working with districts and local municipalities, as well as provinces throughout the country, embarked on a process of launching stakeholder forums.
To date, over 255 stakeholders forums countrywide, including four district and 19 local municipalities in North West have been successfully launched. The main function of the Stakeholders Forums is to assist the Department of Home Affairs in identifying community service delivery needs.
The launch of the North West Provincial Stakeholder Forum and the Child Protection Week commemoration is scheduled as follows
