The Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Njabulo Nzuza will on Monday, 18 April 2022 visit the Maseru Bridge Port of Entry to conduct an assessment as travellers make their way back from Easter holidays.
Last week Minister Aaron Motsoaledi announced extended operational hours at the busiest ports of entry from 13 to 20 April 2022 to allow for ease of movement ahead of the Easter season. The Maseru Bridge port of entry is the third busiest land port of entry in the country. It services mainly nationals travelling between South Africa and Lesotho.
According to Deputy Minister Nzuza, the extended hours have had a positive impact in easing congestion of both travellers and goods and creating a smooth environment at a time of heightened traffic flow.
“The extended operational hours coupled with the deployment of additional staff has made a remarkable impact at these busiest ports of entry and we are pleased with the efficiency in transit from South Africa to the neighbouring countries so far”, he said.
During his visit there Deputy Minister Nzuza will interact with various stakeholders located at the Port of entry.
