The Minister of Home Affairs, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi is scheduled to lead a National Colloquium on the Marriage Policy on Monday, 28 June 2021 to conclude a series of consultations in the lead up to the deadline for public comments.
The Green Paper on Marriages in South Africa was approved by Cabinet in April 2021 for public consultation and gazetted for public comments on 04 May 2021 with public comments invited until 30 June 2021.
Inputs received during consultations will be consolidated into a White Paper which will articulate government's position on the regulation of marriages in South Africa.
