Pretoria - Home Affairs Director-General, Mkuseli Apleni today, Sunday 17 March 2013 announced the closure of the department’s Pretoria regional offices situated in Pretorius Street with effect from Saturday 23 March 2013.The closure of the offices was occasioned by the lapse of a lease agreement between the Home Affairs Department and the owners of the building in Pretorius Street.

Conscious that home affairs services are critical in the lives of ordinary South Africans, the department has now entered into a new agreement which has made it possible for such services to be afforded to the people from new premises with effect from 25th March 2013, at number 320 Byron Place in Pretoria and located at the corner of Nana Sita (formerly Skinner) and Sophie de Bruyn Streets( formerly Schubart Str.

The services at Byron Place will mainly focus on the issuance of identity documents and passports, registration of births, marriages and deaths, solemnization of marriages, adjudication of applications for citizenship, resolution of duplicates cases, rectifications and amendments.

However, services for the applications for temporary and permanent residence permits which were rendered at Pretorius offices will now be delivered from the department’s offices in Akasia, Pretoria.
