20 December 2019
Minister of Home Affairs, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, is scheduled to visit the Kopfontein border post between South Africa and Botswana on Monday 23 December 2019 as part of the Department’s plans to monitor the smooth facilitation of traveller movement over the festive season.
The Kopfontein border gate, near Zeerust in the North West Province, is a major Port of Entry between South Africa and Botswana. It is one of the ports of entry which are expected to experience increased traveller movement volumes over the festive season. In anticipation of this, the Department has deployed some of the 400 additional immigration staff announced earlier this month to Kopfontein.
The Minister’s visit to Kopfontein will emphasize the importance of ensuring smooth facilitation of movement of people, goods and services and road safety while elevating service delivery levels as these are in the interest of stimulating tourism, trade and the economy.
