21 August 2019
The Minister of Home Affairs, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, is scheduled to host Mr Frans Kapofi, Namibia’s Minister of Home Affairs and Immigration, at the Government Printing Works in Pretoria.
Minister Kapofi is on a Ministerial visit which includes a tour of Government Printing Works (GPW) which prints high security documents such as certificates, IDs and passports.
The Ministers will explore areas of cooperation in the printing of high security documents following their initial meeting in June 2019.
The Government Printing Works is a State-Owned Entity under the Department of Home Affairs which has been self-funding for the past six years. It is one of the best run entities and has excess capacity to print security documents.
This financial year, the GPW will hire 105 extra employees, purchase R517 million worth of ultra-modern printing equipment and is projected to make profit of R153 million by the end of the financial year.
The two Ministers will also conduct a walk about at the printing facility to monitor operations.
