The Department of Home Affairs has noted a judgment by the Western Cape High Court ordering the state to introduce legislation to recognise Muslim marriages within 24 months.

 

We are in the process of studying the order and will make further comments in due course. We also note that the decision is subject to confirmation by the Constitutional Court.
