The Department of Home Affairs  will open all its offices across the country on Wednesday 07 May 2014 from 07h00-21h00 in line with voting hours declared by the IEC to assist citizens with the necessary enabling documents for purposes of voting.

In this regard, the department will issue citizens who may require such enabling documents as temporary identity certificates, afford those who may wish to collect their uncollected green bar coded IDs and smart ID cards an opportunity to do so while also issuing letters of confirmation of identity.

As part of preparations for delivering services ahead of the voting day, Home Affairs offices across the country will also from today Monday-Tuesday, 5-6 May 2014 open its offices from 07h30-19h30 for citizens to access services that they may require for purposes of voting.

Home Affairs takes this opportunity to remind members of the public that President Jacob Zuma has declared Wednesday, 07 May 2014 as a national holiday to allow citizens more time to vote.

All Home Affairs officials who will be working on Wednesday 07 May 2014 have been afforded an opportunity alongside all other essential services to cast special votes across the country to enable them to serve the citizenry to the best of their ability on voting day.
