Home Affairs Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, as the Chairperson of the Inter-Ministerial Consultative Committee on Border Management, is scheduled to conduct an oversight visit at the OR Tambo International Airport as the Border Management Agency becomes a standalone Schedule 3 (A) entity responsible for the management of the South African border.

During the oversight visit, the Minister is scheduled to monitor the integrated BMA law enforcement services such as immigration, port health, environment and agriculture.

From tomorrow, the BMA seizes to be a Branch of the Department of Home Affairs, signaling the new way the country is managing our border, characterized by a single command structure at the Ports Of Entry. This means that traveller queries can be addressed much faster than before and trade is facilitated.

Members of the media are invited to participate as follows:

Date: Saturday, 01 April 2023

Time: 11H00

Venue: OR Tambo International Airport Media Centre
