The Minister and the Deputy Minister will be supported by the acting Director-General, Mr Jackson Mckay, and senior officials of the department.

The department will report to lawmakers on progress made in carrying out its mandate which is divided into two categories, namely civic services and immigration services. Its mandate is broken down into the following areas: management of citizenship and civil registration, management of international migration and management of refugee protection.

It is expected that the deliberations will encompass reflections on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the adjustments it had necessitated in government planning and the department’s response thereto.
